Senior Mechanical Design Engineer

Location: King of Prussia Contract: Full-time employee Start: 04.05.2026

Your tasks

The Senior Mechanical Design Engineer leads mechanical design and engineering activities for ZETA’s biopharmaceutical client projects. This role drives the design and development of advanced process systems for upstream processing, downstream purification, plasma fractionation, ADC manufacturing, and cell and gene therapy applications.

The Senior Mechanical Design Engineer serves as a technical leader, guiding junior engineers, leading design reviews, ensuring GMP and ASME BPE compliance, and acting as a key contributor in cross‑functional engineering teams.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead Mechanical Engineering scope throughout the full project lifecycle.
  • Lead development of complex 3D models, assemblies, and mechanical system designs.
  • Develop P&IDs, 2D layouts, specifications, detailed drawings, and engineering documentation.
  • Ensure designs comply with GMP, ASME BPE, and relevant engineering standards.
  • Oversee and mentor junior engineers, providing technical guidance.
  • Translate process engineering requirements into robust mechanical solutions.
  • Lead mechanical design reviews, DFMEAs, tolerance analyses, and risk assessments.
  • Collaborate with fabrication, automation, and process engineering teams.
  • Support clients, vendors, and manufacturing teams throughout the project lifecycle. including customer meetings and design reviews.
 

Your profile

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field.
  • 7+ years of mechanical design experience, preferably in biopharma or process industries.
  • Proficiency in 2D and 3D CAD modeling, design standards, and engineering best practices.
  • Strong understanding of sanitary design, materials, welding, and fabrication methods.
  • Experience leading engineering projects and mentoring junior team members.
  • Ability to work cross‑functionally and manage technical aspects of client projects.

 

Work Environment & Physical Requirements

  • Hybrid work model with three onsite days per week at the King of Prussia office.
  • Travel up to 15%, including domestic and international assignments as needed for project execution, FAT/SAT, or client support.
